Steve Davis
As area manager for Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), Southeast Council, Steve Davis is responsible for service to milk producer members of his cooperative in his territory, while assuring his employer that the milk purchased by DFA is of high quality. He must seek to maximize the efficiencies of producers, provide guidance in production practices, and assist them in solving problems, especially related to milk quality and safety.
Before the organization of DFA, Steve was employed by Mid-America Dairymen, Inc. as Manager of Member Services and Young Cooperators Coordinator.
A dairy farmer in Southwest Missouri who has served on both the Mid-America Dairymen Board and the DFA Southeast Council said of Steve, “I cannot stress the hours of work and concern Steve has shown for Missouri dairy farmers. He strives to go way beyond what another person might do in his position as area manager. I cannot commend him enough for the job he does for us.”
Another supporter of his nomination wrote: “I have known Steve for thirty years. He has worked tirelessly year after year to promote the dairy industry, to assist Missouri’s milk producers, and to solve problems with a common-sense approach. His integrity is of the highest order.”
“Steve takes farmer needs to heart,” wrote another supporter, “He has tough decisions to make every day and puts much thought as well as his heart and soul into making them. No one person, and I truly mean no one, works as hard as Steve to take care of his people.”
Steve grew up in Rogersville, Missouri and is married to Janet; they have an adult son named Tyler. Steve held several management positions at Tindle Mills prior to joining Mid-America Dairymen, Inc. His hobbies include training walking horses, competitive pulling horses, and just working a team. He is active in church.
